  • 15K SQFT expansion in 1050 West Pender in downtown Vancouver, CAN
  • 26K SQFT expansion in 1155 University Street in downtown Montréal, CAN
  • 28KSQFT expansion in 511 11th Avenue South in downtown Minneapolis, MN
  • 20K SQFT expansion in 905 King Street West in downtown Toronto, CAN

Laura Ortman

Chief Executive Officer

Laura Ortman is Cologix’s Chief Executive Officer.

Before being appointed CEO in 2022, Laura was the President and Chief Revenue Officer for Cologix since August 2018. In this role, she led strategic sales and revenue strategy, focusing on deepening customer relationships and broadening the company’s go-to-market strategy to include the fast-growing ecosystem of hyperscale cloud providers. Her role evolved to drive the company’s product, technology and IT strategies. During this time, Ortman was responsible for driving double-digit revenue growth.

Laura has 25 years of experience leading software and IT business operations, revenue and client relationship management, pre- and post-sales, global support services and customer experience. She thrives in building strong relationships in a dynamic, customer-focused business environment, driving high-performing teams in a “together we win” culture to deliver a best-in-class experience for customers.

Prior to Cologix, Laura was EVP and Chief Customer Officer at Equinix, providing a world-class experience for their customers. Laura also spent nine years at VMware, where she oversaw the Cloud Services business as co-General Manager and Vice President, leading VMware’s Global Sales and Customer Success teams. Prior to joining VMware, Laura led a global technical support services team and mergers & acquisition team for Jeppesen, a Boeing Company. Laura spent eight years working at Lockheed Martin, holding a variety of technical and executive management leadership positions.

Laura is a recognized leader in the industry, receiving a leadership award from the Professional Business Women of California (PBWC) for her commitment to supporting women and girls in technology. Laura serves on the Advisory Board for the University of Colorado Boulder – Leeds School of Business and and on the Alumni Board and College of Business Dean’s Advisory Board for the University of Alabama – Huntsville. Laura holds an MBA in Information Systems from Regis University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) in Marketing from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where she played tennis as a NCAA college athlete.

Dawn Smith

President

Dawn Smith is the President of Cologix and has responsibility for leading all aspects of data center design, engineering, construction, operations, compliance, supply chain, vendor management, sales engineering, real estate development, information technology and security, talent engagement, human resources and legal functions. Additionally, Dawn leads Cologix’s fiber solutions subsidiary, Metro Optic. She also serves as Corporate Secretary to the company’s Board of Directors.

Prior to Cologix, Dawn was most recently the executive vice president and chief legal officer of McAfee, where she led the legal and government relations organization globally. Prior to McAfee, Dawn was the senior vice president and chief legal officer at VMware. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Dawn graduated from Stanford Law School and joined Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. Dawn then became a partner at Morrison & Foerster.

Dawn currently serves on the board of directors of the Health Catalyst, Inc. Dawn’s leadership has resulted in numerous recognitions in the field of law, including Top 50 Women Lawyers in the U.S. by the National Diversity Council, Value Champion Award by the Association of Corporate Counsel and Most Innovative In-House Legal Team in North America and Top 20 General Counsel by the Financial Times.

In addition to her JD from Stanford Law School, Dawn earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and an MBA from Providence College.  Dawn also received the Vice Admiral Lawrence Award for most outstanding woman athlete while at the U.S. Naval Academy. As a commissioned officer, Dawn was chosen for the highly competitive naval nuclear submarine program founded by Admiral Hyman Rickover.

Chris Heinrich

Chief Revenue Officer

Chris Heinrich is the Chief Revenue Officer at Cologix and responsible for overseeing sales, customer experience, product, revenue operations and strategic partnership efforts. Chris joined Cologix in 2019 as the company’s Chief Sales Officer. During this time, Heinrich built a world class sales team and developed a strategic approach to focus on multimarket, platform-based selling in North America. Under his leadership, the Sales organization has secured multimillion-dollar, long-term customer commitments that have led to record bookings growth.

Chris has 25 years of enterprise technology sales experience with a focus on strategic partnerships as well as channel programs and execution. Before joining Cologix, Chris led North American sales for Adobe’s Document Cloud/eSign SaaS business. Chris also spent over nine years at VMware, where he held numerous sales and leadership roles. He holds a BA from Fresno State University where he studied Communications, Marketing and Advertising.

Scott Schneider

Chief Financial Officer

Scott Schneider is the Chief Financial Officer of Cologix and is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting functions. Before being appointed CFO, Scott was the Treasurer for Cologix since 2017. In this role, he led the corporate development, capital markets, financial planning, treasury and risk management functions. While Treasurer, Scott led equity raises and debt refinancings totaling over $6 billion, including the 2022 equity recapitalization and issuance of asset-backed securities (ABS) notes. Additionally, Scott has sourced, negotiated and closed nine facility acquisitions including Cologix’s entrance into the hyperscale market in 2018 through the acquisition of Colo-D in Montréal. Also, he has built deep, longstanding relationships with equity and debt investors, banking partners, rating agencies and industry peers, keeping Cologix’s growth and success top of mind.

Scott has more than 15 years of experience working for multinational public REITs and other data center companies. Prior to Cologix, Scott was the Senior Manager of Treasury Strategy at Iron Mountain where he was responsible for capital market execution, lender and rating agency relations and operational treasury. While at Iron Mountain, Scott raised over $8 billion of debt financing in multiple countries and currencies. Additionally, Scott played an integral role in Iron Mountain’s conversion to a REIT. Prior to Iron Mountain, Scott was the Treasury Manager at Archstone, a previously public, multifamily REIT that was taken private under his tenure at a $22 billion valuation.

Scott currently serves on the board of Foster Fete, a Colorado-based non-profit that provides birthday celebrations for children in foster care. He holds a BS in Finance from Colorado State University and has previously held a Certified Treasury Professional accreditation.

Page Haun

Chief Marketing and ESG Strategy Officer

As the Chief Marketing and ESG Strategy Officer at Cologix, Page Haun leads the marketing strategy for the company. She is responsible for the brand strategy, sales enablement and demand generation. She also leads the company’s communications activities including press, media and investor relations. Over the past 20 years in high tech, Page has held various marketing leadership positions. Most recently, she was the global head of Brand Strategy, Content and Creative Services at Equinix. In her years at Equinix, Page also led Americas Regional Marketing, Marketing Planning and one of the company’s top global customer experience initiatives. Prior to Equinix, Page held Marketing leadership roles at Dolby Laboratories, AT&T Broadband/Comcast and Charter Communications. Throughout her career, Page has been recognized for building and leading high performing teams as well as for developing winning strategies. Page has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Economics and Spanish from Vanderbilt University.

Nathan Hazelwood

Chief Development Officer

Nathan Hazelwood, Chief Development Officer of Cologix, is responsible for leading all aspects of design and construction, supply chain, vendor management, sales engineering and strategic sourcing throughout the company.

Over the past 18 years, Nathan has been an industry leader in key areas, such as design, construction and supply chain by forging new ways of procuring that have led to changes in how manufacturers and end users benefit together.

Prior to joining Cologix, Hazelwood held leadership roles in the data center industry at CyrusOne and QTS. He was responsible for overseeing development projects, establishing corporate standards, building procurement departments, setting overall strategic sourcing strategies, creating robust supply chains and fostering strategic partnerships.

Hazelwood holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from Purdue University.

Brian Cross

Senior Vice President of Sales

Brian Cross serves as the Senior Vice President of Sales at Cologix, where he oversees all sales activities, channel, and go to market across North America. Joining the company in 2020 as the Vice President of Hyperscale and Cloud Sales, Cross has played a pivotal role in achieving remarkable bookings growth for the Cloud and Hyperscale team in 2021 and 2022. Under his leadership, the team successfully secured multiple long-term, multimillion-dollar commitments with key customers.

With an extensive background spanning over 20 years in high tech and enterprise sales on a global scale, Brian’s previous role was as the Vice President of Sales at Iron Mountain Data Centers. During his tenure, he was a key member of the sales leadership team, significantly contributing to the overall sales increase. His responsibilities included managing a team responsible for and targeting Hyperscale, Cloud and Strategic Accounts in the Western U.S. region and Asia.

Before joining Iron Mountain Data Centers, Brian held a sales leadership position at Equinix. While at Equinix, he led a Cloud and SaaS Team for the Western U.S. with a primary focus on selling to strategic customers through the Equinix Cloud Exchange. Brian’s earlier experiences include sales management roles at AT&T and SBC DataComm.

Throughout his career, Brian has demonstrated a consistent track record of building high-performing sales teams and implementing effective selling motions that result in sustained revenue growth. He holds an MBA from California State University Hayward and a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from California State University Chico.

Phillip Eck

General Counsel

Phillip Eck, General Counsel, leads the legal team responsible for providing legal and compliance support for Cologix, including commercial contract negotiations, construction and development projects, regulatory compliance matters and corporate governance. Phillip also provides legal support for the negotiation and closing of mergers and acquisition transactions as well as equity and debt financings in support of Cologix’s expansion plans. Prior to joining Cologix in August 2022, Phillip held Senior Director roles with VMware, Inc. and Oracle, Inc. as well as associate positions at law firms in Denver, Colorado and Sarasota, Florida. Phillip holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas and a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law.
