Celebrating International Women’s Day with Cologix Women’s Connection Network

Share

In 2022, Cologix launched the Cologix Women’s Connection Network (CWCN), an employee resource group (ERG) serving all female employees in the company. For the last two years, CWCN has provided women at Cologix a safe environment to share their stories, learn from one another’s experiences and leverage each other to accelerate their careers. Each year, this group is especially proud to celebrate with one another on International Women’s Day. In 2024, International Women’s Day’s global theme is #InspireInclusion. That’s exactly what women in CWCN have done for the last two years – inspire one another inside Cologix to change the future of women in data centers and technology infrastructure.

In honor of International Women’s Day, we asked some CWCN leaders and participants to share their thoughts on CWCN and women in our industry.

Nancy Tiemeier – Building Community

Cologix Account Director Nancy Tiemeier joined the company in 2014, bringing to Cologix a long career in information technology and services including serving as the President of the Association of Technology Professionals’ Columbus Chapter for more than 16 years. Nancy is passionate about the work of women in our industry. She says, “Many times, you are the only woman in the room. That means you often have to prove your credibility and show people you belong there.” Nancy says she’s found many opportunities in her career by networking with other women and offering one another a support system. “I like supporting women in my community and at Cologix. We can get to know each other on a personal level, which helps us to work together. We can help one another on a deeper level professionally.” Nancy stays involved because she wants to increase the opportunities available for women – at Cologix and in our industry. Nancy sees the strides Cologix has already made in increasing the number of women in the operations side of the business and looks forward to seeing the company’s progress in the years ahead. Though it’s a male dominated field, there are many opportunities for women to succeed.

Ginger Padilla – Powerful Networking

Ginger Padilla joined Cologix as Senior Billing Manager in our Denver headquarters in 2021. She became involved with CWCN early on in her time at Cologix. She says, “I love networking with all of the women at Cologix. We are such a smart and interesting group.” Even through the pandemic, CWCN organized virtual events and worked diligently to bring together women from across our North American footprint for events, training, professional development and other opportunities to learn and grow together. Ginger says, “It’s great to have such a supportive team, especially with almost half of the leadership being women. They attend events and encourage all women at Cologix to participate. I know CWCN is a huge success for everyone because it continues to spearhead involvement across our teams.” How do we #InspireInclusion on International Women’s Day? Ginger says she’ll know women have truly achieved inclusion in the technology industry when we see fewer women having to prove themselves repeatedly. Like Nancy, Ginger knows what it’s like to be the only woman in the room. Fortunately, no woman at Cologix needs to feel like she’s the only one.

Do you have ideas to #InspireInclusion at Cologix? Share them with us by sending an email: esg@cologix.com. Cologix employees can watch for upcoming opportunities to join CWCN events and participate in other inclusion-specific events through Culture Club and other initiatives.
